Quick Answer
To enable WhatsApp chat notifications you must first allow browser-level notifications for myoperator.com and then switch ON the Sound and Push notification toggles inside WhatsApp Settings in your MyOperator panel.
Platform & Compatibility Requirements
Web-push notifications work only on desktop and laptop versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge running on Windows or macOS. They do not work on Safari (desktop or mobile), any mobile web browser, or the MyOperator mobile app.
Detailed Troubleshooting Steps
- Grant browser permission by clicking the Enable banner that states "WhatsApp chat notifications are blocked". When the prompt "myoperator.com wants to show notifications" appears, click Allow. If no prompt appears, click the Padlock (🔒) or Tune (🎛️) icon beside the URL, open Site Settings and change Notifications from Block to Allow.
- Check your operating system’s notification settings.
- Windows: Turn Do Not Disturb / Focus Assist OFF and make sure Google Chrome, Firefox or Edge is permitted to send desktop notifications in Windows Notification Settings.
- macOS: Go to System Settings → Notifications → Google Chrome (or your chosen supported browser) and confirm that Allow Notifications is enabled.
- Enable panel toggles for each user. Inside the MyOperator panel open WhatsApp Settings, turn ON Sound and Push Notifications for Open Chats, Assigned Chats and Non-Working Hours Chats as required, click Save and refresh the page. Notification preferences are user-specific, so every agent has to log in and enable them individually.
Advanced Fixes
- Open an Incognito or Private window, log in to MyOperator, and repeat the Enable action to rule out browser extensions such as ad-blockers.
- Clear cookies and cache for myoperator.com, restart the browser, and log back in.
- Check that individual customer chat threads are not muted inside the live chat inbox.
Escalation Guidelines
Escalate to the Account Manager if the query involves organisation-wide user seat permissions or subscription questions.
Our support team will escalate to Tech Support when browser permissions, OS settings and panel toggles are all set to Allow or ON but notification sounds or pop-ups still fail in multiple browsers. Collect and share the WABA ID, the affected agent’s email ID and a screen recording that shows browser site settings, in-panel toggles and the behaviour of a test message.
