How do I integrate MyOperator WhatsApp with Shopify?

How do I integrate MyOperator WhatsApp with Shopify?

Quick Answer

The MyOperator WhatsApp Connector guides you from first installation in the MyOperator panel through to automated WhatsApp workflows for abandoned carts, order updates, and COD management inside your Indian Shopify store.

1. Integration Overview & Objective

The plugin links your verified WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) to Shopify so that MyOperator can automatically send transactional and engagement messages for events such as order placement, shipment, delivery, COD confirmation, abandoned-cart recovery and more. All configuration is done once you enter the Ecomm+ menu in MyOperator and are redirected to the Shopify App Marketplace.

2. Prerequisites

  • An active MyOperator account (integration starts from this panel).
  • A verified WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) already connected to MyOperator.
  • Shopify admin access for installing apps and granting permissions.
  • Pre-approved WhatsApp message templates created inside MyOperator > WhatsApp > Create Template. Always choose the Utility category, name templates by function (for example, Order_Shipped or Cart_Reminder_1) and DO NOT ENABLE LINK TRACKING ON THE TEMPLATES.
  • By default, the connector sends a message to the phone number found in the Contact Information section of Shopify; if that field is blank, it automatically pulls the number from Shipping Details.

PurposeTemplate Names to Prepare

All templates must be approved before you can map them in the workflows below.

4. Installation & Authentication Steps

1. Inside MyOperator, click Ecomm+ to reach the Shopify App listing and install the app. First-time installers see a dedicated redirection screen that leads to Shopify.

2. On Shopify, grant every permission that the connector requests. When permissions are saved, you are taken to the configuration page; supply your Shopify Store URL if it is not auto-filled.

3. Authenticate WABA features by entering your MyOperator Company ID and unique WhatsApp API Token.

4. Select the WhatsApp number you want to attach to Shopify from the list of active numbers and click Verify and Continue.

5. After verification you land on the main configuration dashboard where the active connection and selected number are displayed. Review and save if required.

6. Open the WhatsApp Automation section to configure predefined workflows for Abandoned Carts, Placed Orders, Confirmed Orders, Shipped Orders, Delivered Orders, plus up to three custom workflows.

5. Abandoned Cart Recovery Setup

  1. Go to Ecomm+ > Workflow and open Abandoned Cart Recovery.

2. Activate Reminder 1 using its toggle. Reminder 2 and Reminder 3 can be activated later to build a sequence of up to three nudges.
  • Reminder 1: Typically a gentle, initial nudge.
  • Reminder 2: A follow-up to create urgency or offer help.
  • Reminder 3: A final attempt, often with an incentive.
3. In the Edit workflow screen choose when to trigger the reminder. You may pick any delay from 15 minutes to 24 hours; a common starting delay is 1 hour.

4. Select your pre-approved template for the reminder.

5. Map each variable: {{name}} → Shopify customer name, {{Shopify_orderid}} → Order ID, and so on. Enter a fallback such as “Valued Customer” whenever data might be absent.

6. Click Test to send yourself a preview. Enter a 10-digit Indian mobile number with no country code to receive the sample.

7. Check the live preview on the right, then click Update workflow. Repeat the same process for Reminder 2 and Reminder 3 with different delays or incentives.

6. Order Lifecycle Notifications Setup

1. Navigate to Order Lifecycle Notifications under the Workflow tab.

2. You will see a list of all key order events you can automate. These include:
  • Order Placed
  • Order Cancelled
  • Payment Received
  • Order Shipped
  • Order Delivered
  • And more...
Toggle on the first event you wish to automate, for example Order Placed.

3. Choose the matching template, then map variables exactly as follows: {{name}} → Name, {{orderid}} → Order ID, {{ordernumber}} → Order Number, {{quantity}} → Quantity, {{totalprice}} → Total Price. Provide sensible fallbacks such as “Customer”.

4. Send yourself a test, review the preview and click Update workflow. Repeat this activation for Order Shipped, Order Delivered and any other event in the list.

7. COD Order Confirmation or Cancellation

1. In Workflow, open Cash-on-Delivery (COD) Management and enable COD Order Confirmation or Cancel. Click the toggle switch to activate it, then click on the flow (or the Edit flow icon) to open the configuration screen.

2. Select your cod_approval template.

3. Map variables: {{name}} → Name, {{orderid}} → Order ID, {{ordernumber}} → Order Number, {{link}} → Custom Link for the buttons. Supply fallbacks where needed.

4. Preview the message containing “Approve” and “Cancel” buttons, send a test, then click Update workflow.

You must embed the following dynamic URLs in the template itself so that the buttons function:

Order Confirmation Link: https://shopify.myoperator.com/order-confirmation{{approve}}
Order Cancellation Link: https://shopify.myoperator.com/order-confirmation{{cancel}}

8. Convert COD Orders to Prepaid

1. Inside COD Management, enable the Convert COD to Paid flow.

2. Pick the cod_to_paid_new template.

3. Map variables as follows: {{name}} → Name, {{orderid}} → Order ID, {{ordernumber}} → Order Number, {{amount}} → Order Amount, {{paymentlink}} → Payment Link, which injects a unique checkout link for the customer.

4. Preview, test and save the workflow. Consider editing the template text to add an incentive such as “Pay online now to get an extra 5% discount!”.

5. The payment link must follow this format:

Dynamic Redirect URL Format: https://shopify.myoperator.com/redirect?url={{link }}

  • NEVER enable link tracking on any template used by the connector.
  • Always select the Utility category to improve approval speed and delivery.
  • Name templates clearly (e.g., Cart_Reminder_1) so you can find them quickly in dropdowns.
  • The “Approve”/“Cancel” and payment links rely on the exact URL formats shown above; do not alter them.

10. Analytics & Reports

All message delivery and interaction statistics are available under the Message Trail section of MyOperator. A video walkthrough can be viewed in the file MyOperator-liveTesting.mov.
