Composio Integrations for Voice Agents | MyOperator

How do I use Composio Integrations inside an AI Voice agent?

Quick Answer

Composio Integrations let you log in to tools such as Google Sheets, Google Calendar and Gmail and make the agent run real actions—lookups, bookings, emails—mid-conversation on a live WhatsApp or voice call, without any code.

1. Feature Overview and Benefits

• Integrations connect a Voice agent to Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Gmail and any other toolkit enabled by the MyOperator team.
• Actions happen while the caller is still talking to the agent; there is no separate trigger or post-call automation.
• The setup is entirely no-code. The agent owner simply explains the desired behaviour in plain language and the AI handles APIs, webhooks and variable mapping.
• Typical results include automatically adding a lead to a sheet, booking a calendar slot, or sending confirmation emails during the same conversation.

2. Step-by-Step Setup Workflow

  1. Select the required toolkit on the Integrations tab inside the agent Builder.

2. A new browser tab opens for authentication. Log in with your normal Google or other account—OAuth or API-key flows are managed securely by the platform; you never touch tokens.

3. When authentication succeeds, the Setup Agent chat opens. Describe the requirement, for example: “When a lead gives me their name and phone number, add a row to my Google Sheet.” The AI asks clarifying questions and maps variables automatically.

4. Enter real test values (for example, a real name, email or slot time) in the Testing Agent. The system runs the actual tool call and shows the result in the chat. If something is wrong, you see the error and can fix it before any customer hits it.

5. After a successful test, click Publish Integration. The button remains disabled until at least one test has passed.

6. To edit a published integration, click Edit on its card. This loads the full chat history from the original setup, so you can type new requirements or corrections directly in the chat. Any change made after a successful test resets the test status, so you must re-test before you can re-publish. Clicking Reset Chat during an edit reverts everything back to the last saved state.

It is strongly advised to repeat the test with multiple inputs—including missing fields, unusual formats and calendar conflicts—before exposing the agent to customers.

3. Adding System Instructions

Publishing alone is not enough; the agent must be told exactly when to call the integration. Add a sentence in the main system instructions that names the integration and the trigger condition, for example:

When the user provides their name and phone number, use the Lead Capture Sheet integration to save their details.
Without this instruction, the agent will not know to trigger the integration during a conversation. Mention the integration by its exact name as configured in the agent, describe the trigger condition clearly, and if the agent has several integrations, give each its own instruction line.

4. Conversation Controls: Agent Message & Wait for Response

Each integration has two conversation-flow settings:

  • Agent Message – A short line the agent speaks immediately before the action so there is no awkward silence.
Examples: “Sure, let me check that for you.” / “Great — I’ll get that booked now.” / “Perfect, I’m noting that down.” Never promise a result because the action has not finished yet.

  • Wait for Response – Determines whether the agent pauses until the tool replies.
    • On (default): Use when the agent needs the result, e.g. Check Availability, Book Appointment, Search Knowledge Base.
    • Off: Use only for background actions such as Save Lead or Notify Admin. The agent continues speaking and never sees failures; monitoring handles retries.

Turning Wait for Response off while the conversation depends on the outcome is discouraged because any failure will be invisible to the caller and the agent.

5. Sample Use Cases

1. Appointment Booking (Google Calendar · Gmail)
• Check Availability – Returns free 30-minute slots for the next five working days.
• Book Appointment – Creates the event, adds the user as an attendee and generates a Meet link.
• Send User Confirmation – Emails slot details and the Meet link.
• Notify Admin – Emails the admin with user details and the booked slot.

2. Lead Capture (Google Sheets)
Save Lead – Appends a new row with name, phone, email and any other required fields at conversation end.

3. Lead Qualification (Google Sheets)
• Read Qualification Criteria – Reads rules from a sheet.
• Save Qualified Lead – Writes qualified leads to a dedicated sheet tab.

4. Knowledge Base Search (Google Sheets)
Search Knowledge Base – Reads the sheet and returns an answer that matches the caller’s query.

5. Complaint, Demo & Inquiry Routing (Google Sheets)
• Save Demo Request – Logs name, company, email and preferred time.
• Save Complaint – Logs complaint with Status = Open and a timestamp.
• Save General Inquiry – Logs name, phone and the message.

6. Detailed Feature FAQ

What is the Integrations feature? It connects an agent to external tools such as Google Sheets, Google Calendar or Gmail so it can run actions—saving rows, booking slots, sending mail—during the call, without developer help.

Who can use it? Any agent owner with access to the agent Builder; no technical expertise is required.

Which toolkits are available? Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Gmail and any other toolkit the MyOperator team enables. To request another tool, contact your account manager. Users cannot upload their own APIs.

Do I need a developer? No. Everything is configured through plain-language chat; the only manual step is logging in to the third-party account.

What is the Setup Agent? The AI chat interface that asks follow-up questions, maps variables and shows a summary before testing.

Authentication flow uses standard OAuth or API keys in a separate tab; credentials are stored securely.

Multiple accounts can be connected, but only one account per toolkit is active at a time across all integrations in that agent.

Is testing mandatory? Yes. Publish becomes clickable only after a successful live test.

What if the test fails? The Testing Agent displays the exact error. Adjust the configuration or retry with new values.

Editing after publish is allowed; any change resets the test status and requires re-testing.

How many integrations can one agent have? Unlimited, but each handles exactly one tool action. Combine multiple integrations with clear system instructions to form multi-step flows.

If the AI cannot map my request, rephrase it with precise field names and conditions. Contact support if repeated reasonable attempts fail.

Integration fails live? Confirm it is published and called correctly in system instructions, then re-test and re-publish. Escalate to support with integration name and user-visible error if the issue continues.

Deleting an integration does not delete the connected account. Account clean-up on final deletion is not available in this release.

Does this replace Functions? No. Functions remain for custom API calls; Integrations serve common no-code scenarios.

7. Troubleshooting Guide

IssueWhat to DoEscalate If...
Toolkit list not loadingRefresh the page and retry.Issue persists across multiple refreshes.
Authentication failingRe-attempt the OAuth flow. Ensure the correct account is being used.Auth fails repeatedly for a valid account.
AI not understanding the requirementRephrase with specific data, e.g. “Add a row to Sheet1 with name in column A and email in column B when the user submits details.”AI fails to map reasonable, specific inputs after multiple attempts.
Test failingRead the error reason in the chat. Go back to setup and adjust the configuration.Test fails even with correct values and a correct config.
Integration not triggering liveVerify the integration is published and referenced precisely in system instructions.Issue persists after re-test, re-publish and instruction update.
Publish button not activatingEnsure no edits were made after the last successful test; if they were, run the test again.Button stays greyed out even after a fresh successful test.

8. Current Limitations and Toolkit Availability

• Each integration supports only one tool action. Multi-action and multi-tool flows are on the roadmap; for now create multiple integrations and orchestrate them through instructions.
• Toolkit availability at launch is intentionally limited. Contact your account manager for additional tool requests.
