How can I test if the Call flow is working?

Short answer: Use Preview in the MyOperator panel to place a test call to your phone and hear the IVR prompts before publishing.

Table of contents

Prerequisites

  • You’re signed in to the MyOperator panel with access to Call / Callflow.
  • You have a phone number you can receive test calls on.
  • Audio files (greeting/menus) are uploaded or recorded.

Test your call flow (Preview) — 7 steps

  1. Open Callflow
Go to Call → Design Callflow.
Shortcut: <your-dashboard-url>/callflow (replace with your actual URL)
  2. Create or edit
Build a new flow or open an existing one.
  3. Save to Preview
Click Save to Preview to generate a preview build.
  4. Open Preview panel
In Preview, choose the flow you want to test (if multiple exist).
  5. Enter a test number
Type a reachable phone number (mobile/landline).
  6. Start the test
Click Listen to Callflow or Send Test Call (label may vary by account).
  7. Answer the call
You’ll receive a call; follow the prompts to hear your welcome, menus, and any routing cues.
This helps you validate prompts, menu logic, and basic routing before you go live.

What to verify during the test

  • Greeting plays correctly (no truncation, correct brand name).
  • Menu options and wording match what’s on screen.
  • DTMF input (key presses) is recognized quickly.
  • Business hours rules behave as expected (if applicable in Preview).
  • Fallbacks: invalid/no input flows go to the right place (repeat, operator, queue).
  • Audio quality: volume, clarity, and consistency across prompts.

Optional: live test after publishing

Once you publish, place a real inbound call to confirm end-to-end behavior with your actual number, including carrier behavior, caller ID, recording, analytics, and downstream routing (queues/agents). Some items (e.g., carrier CLI handling, external forwarding) only reflect in a live test.

Troubleshooting

  • No test call received
    • Re-enter the test number; ensure it can accept calls.
    • Confirm you clicked Save to Preview first.
    • Try another number or network.
  • Audio is silent or clipped
    • Re-upload audio in a supported format/bitrate.
    • Check prompt lengths; avoid long initial silence.
  • DTMF not recognized
    • Press keys after the prompt finishes.
    • Avoid very fast keying; allow brief gaps between digits.
    • If using speakerphone/VoIP, try standard cellular audio.
  • Routing doesn’t match the screen
    • Make sure you’re testing the latest preview (Save to Preview again).
    • Check time-based rules (are you inside business hours?).
  • Preview vs. live doesn’t match
    • Carrier features (forwarding, CLI) apply only in live calls.
    • Publish and place a real inbound test to validate end-to-end.
  • Still stuck?
    • Capture: flow name, time of test, test number used, and screenshots of your Preview panel.
